Established in October 2018, the School of Mathematics Science grew out of mathematics related disciplines running independently in former School of Science in Tiangong University. There are five departments, two centers and one research institute, which  are Department of Basic Mathematics, Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Department of Information and Computational Science, Department of Applied Statistics, Department of Data Science and Big Data Technology; Center of Basic and Cross Research, Center of Mathematical Experiment and Institute of Mathematics. The school has two master's authorization programs in mathematics and statistics, and four undergraduate majors in mathematics and applied mathematics, information and computing science, applied statistics, data science and big data technology.

There are 91 faculty members and staff, among which 84 are full-time teachers, including 14 professors, 48 associate professors, 1 Tianjin specially appointed professor, 2  state-level excellent teachers. Moreover, there are 2 outstanding teachers, YAO Yonghong and QI Feng, who have been selected as the world’s top cited scientists since 2014, and Professor YAO Yonghong as the world’s most influential scientific elites in 2014. The numbers of students in this school is 766 , including 705 undergraduates and 61 postgraduates.

Teachers ofSchool of Mathematics Science have won one second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, one second prize of the National Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition and four first prizes of Tianjin Teaching Achievement Award. This school also has a strong team of mathematical modeling, which guide students to make many achievements in the National Contest of Mathematical Modeling for College Students and the National Mathematical Contest for College Students .

Over the past five years,School of Mathematics Science has formed its research characteristics and advantages in functional analysis and application, theory and application of non-linear dynamics, algebra and combinatorial mathematics, special function theory, operational research and control theory, probability theory and statistics. It has presided over 21 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and published more than 700 papers with nearly 500 papers indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. Besides, the papers published by Professor YAO Yonghong have been selected as the most influential international papers in China for five times.

In the Academic Ranking of mathematics disciplines published by Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2014, the mathematics discipline in Tiangong University has entered the top 100 in the world, ranking 76th in the world universities and 7th in the mainland universities. In 2017, the mathematics discipline entered the first 1% of ESI in the world.

The school also has established a partnership with many foreign universities. In September 2016, it signed a“2+2” joint training agreement with the University of Minnesota in the United States. The undergraduates who participated in this project can obtain bachelor's degrees from these two universities, and they can choose to go to the United States for their postgraduate studies. In addition, it carries out various exchange programs with Dundee University in the United Kingdom, Cracow University of Technology in Poland and Fukui University in Japan.
