In order to contribute to the construction and development of the Double First Class Project of Tiangong University, in October 2018, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering was established on the basis of the disciplines and specialties of environmental science and engineering of the former School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering. The environmental engineering major of Tiangong University was founded in 2001, which is the key discipline of Tianjin during the 12thand 13thFive-Year Plan; it was approved as the brand major of Tianjin Higher Education in 2010; it was approved as the national excellent plan construction major of "environmental engineering" in 2011 and key disciplines of 12thFive- Year Plan of Tianjin in 2011. In 2017,Tianjin was approved as the "13th Five-Year Plan" key disciplines, and was incorporated into the "first-class disciplines" and "urban water resources security and security" characteristic disciplines group inTianjin. After years of construction and accumulation, membrane water treatment technology and environmental functional materials have gradually formed, and the research direction of environmental analysis and monitoring has been ranked among the top disciplines inTianjin. As the leading unit, Tianjin Water Quality Safety Assessment andGuaranteeTechnologyEngineeringCenter, the State Key Laboratory of Membrane Materials and Membrane Process, Tianjin Membrane Technology Engineering Center and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Environmental Pollution Control Co-innovation Center were established.

Our school currently has a research master's degree program in Environmental Science and engineering, an engineering master's degree in environmental engineering, and a doctoral degree in membrane science and engineering combined with textile disciplines. The undergraduate major in environmental engineering is also available.

There are 36 faculty members, including 27 full-time teachers, 3 doctoral supervisors and more than 20 mastersupervisors. The proportion of those with doctoral degrees is 95.6%, and 54% of young teachers are under 40 years old. Some teachers have the working experience of research institutes, design institutes, post-doctoral enterprises and enterprise commissioners, and have formed a tool. There is a high-level and innovative teaching and research team. At present, there are 1 expert on special allowances from the State Council, 1 Professor honorably appointed from Tianjin Municipal city. At present, there are more than 540 undergraduates and 220 postgraduates students at our school. The employment rate of graduates of our school is more than 95%. Employment orientation of graduates of this major is mainly in planning and design institutes, engineering companies, scientific research institutes, large and medium-sized enterprises and relevant functional departments of government agencies, where graduatesare engaged in planning and design, inspection and analysis, engineering operation and management missions. They can also apply for environmental engineering, municipal engineering, water supply and drainage, or environmental science master or PhD students, etc.

This major adheres to the educational concept of student-centered, output-oriented and continuous improvement, relying on the characteristics of discipline advantages, according to the orientation of the school, taking serving the regional and industrial development as its mission, facing the needs of the country and the eco-environmental protection professionals in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei regions, constantly deepening the construction of professional connotation, and constructing the development guide of characteristics. Emphasis should be laid on both teaching and scientific research, focusing on practice and application-oriented professional personnel training system. Innovative and practical engineering talents with engineering design, operation supervision, monitoring and evaluation, planning and management are trained in the field of environmental engineering. Based on the advantages of school environmental science and engineering disciplines, focusing on the needs of environmental protection industry, and blending with textile engineering, material science and engineering, chemical engineering, Applied Chemistry and other disciplines, the characteristics of professional training based on membrane application technology have been formed. The major of environmental engineering and textile engineering, material science and engineering, chemical engineering, Applied Chemistry and other disciplines of our university have gradually realized the intersection and integration, which forms a multi-disciplinary system with membrane water treatment technology as the core and complementary to each other. It has outstanding professional excellence in the field of "membrane technology application and innovative personnel training" potential to provide environmental engineering professionals for regional economic and ecological construction in Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei.

The major of environmental engineering is part of the pioneer major of National Excellent Engineer Program. The major courses offered include inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental monitoring and experiment, environmental microorganism and experiment, water pollution control engineering and experiment, membrane water treatment technology and experiment, modern environmental analysis and experiment, environmental engineering origin. Management, comprehensive open experiment, curriculum design, CAD design, production practice, graduation design (thesis), etc.

The school has won one second prize of national technological invention, one first prize and one second prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress, one third prize of Tianjin Science and Technology, two second prizes of China Textile Industry Federation, one first prize of China Textile Industry Federation for scientific and technological progress, and one first prize of Tianjin Binhai New Area for scientific and technological progress. Two second-class prizes, one first-class prize and one second-class prize for scientific and technological achievements in production safety.

One master degree program taught in English in environmental engineering is available at our school. A number of international exchange students from Korea, Kenya, Poland were trained within the frame of this program and some of them have won scholarships for outstanding international students. At the same time, our school has established long-term cooperative relations with well-known international universities and research institutes such as theUnited States, Australia, Japan and so on. In particular, in March 2013, Sydney University of Science and Technology and Tongji University of Australia signed an international cooperation agreement and established the International Research Center for Membrane Bioreactor (MBRC, listed in March 2011 in my revised form), which greatly promoted the cooperation of the three institutions in the field of MBR.
